Gerhard Quote for Trinity 7 – Mark 8:1-9

by pastorjuhl ~ July 18th, 2012

“What are we to do when we find ourselves in such a wilderness? We should remind ourselves that the Lord God has led us there, as written about Christ in Matthew 4:1 – the Holy Spirit had brought Him there. We should endure even if deliverance is not soon forthcoming. One cannot escape such wilderness by hustle and worry, for Christ must provide the answer; He must nourish the soul with His heavenly consolation, as He has done here. Therefore, it is best to cling to Him with lasting, firm trust within one’s heart and submit to His divine wisdom, no matter how long He wills for us to remain in this wilderness. No matter how long it lasts, it is still only a short while. In the end, Christ will sate us richly with the sight of God.”
