Bo Giertz on Trinity 16

by ToddPeperkorn ~ September 14th, 2010

That Jesus raised the dead is related to the fact that he was the Son of God.  God alone grants life, and it is he who determines all of live.  And as the Father can raise the dead, so the Son too has been given power to give life to whomsoever he will.  By raising people form the dead Jesus has proved two things.  First, who he is.  These very works which I am doing, bear me witness that the Father has sent me.”  But beyond this he has revealed that death is something that must be overcome, and that it does not belong in the kingdom of God.  Here, as always, the deeds of Christ bear witness to the kingdom which is to come.  And there, even death will be conquered.  There is no more death.
